About
The purpose of the Research Machine Shop is to help principle investigators, post-docs, graduate students and other researchers gain a competitive advantage by helping them turn their ideas and concepts into devices, instruments and apparatus.
We are a friendly, diverse and inclusive facility, with customers and students from a wide variety of academic backgrounds. Some have never had contact with a machine shop. Others have extensive knowledge of machining operations. Our expert staff is happy to work with all levels of experience. Please contact us for more information or to arrange a tour.

We provide machine shop services, postgraduate machine shop training, and design engineering services. Additional machine shop and design engineering outsourcing greatly expands our ability to provide these services.

To better assist our customers, the Research Shop consists of the Professional Machine Shop, the Student Machine Shop and the Professional Design Engineering Shop.
